Puerto Balleto wins best tourist proposal for an emerging Magical Town

At the 48th Tianguis Turístico México 2024 in the city of Acapulco, Guerrero, the ninth edition of the Best of Mexico Awards by Mexico Desconocido took place, an award given by travelers to recognize the tourism of each destination. Nayarit receives recognition for the best tourist proposal, find out more below.

Out of the 17 categories, Nayarit received recognition as a finalist in four of them, including:

• Sayulita – Magical Town to experience the best seaside experience;
• Puerto Balleto – Best tourist proposal in an emerging Magical Town;
• Route through the mangroves of La Tovara – Best adventure to feel the energy of the water;
• Playa del Amor – Best spot to challenge ourselves to experience an amazing adventure.

Resulting in Puerto Balleto in Islas Marías being the winner as the best emerging Magical Town.

Puerto Balleto: Best Tourist Proposal

Puerto Balleto, one of the five newest Magical Towns in Nayarit, stands out for its cultural, natural, and historical richness, which gives it a unique touch and ultimately earned it this award.

This Magical Town is part of the Islas Marías, an archipelago recognized by UNESCO as a protected natural area. In 2000, it became the Center for Environmental and Cultural Education “Muros de Agua,” named after José Revueltas. Today, this tourist center welcomes hundreds of visitors daily who seek to connect with nature through guided tours departing from the Port of San Blas.
