Visit the majestic Isabel Island
Isla Isabel National Park is a fishing camp that dates back at least 100 years and is one of the main nesting areas for seabirds in the Pacific Ocean.
Isabel island is a refuge area for feeding, mating, and nesting of various species of resident and migratory birds. Nine species of seabirds reproduce in large numbers there, including the Blue-footed Booby, the Brown Pelican, the Magnificent Frigatebird, and the Brown Noddy.
Located in the municipality of Santiago Ixcuintla, off the coast of Nayarit, Isla Isabel spans 194 hectares and hosts a significant wealth of ecosystems: lagoon, mangrove, sandy beach, slope, and coastline. This variety supports a wide range of species including mollusks, echinoderms, crustaceans, marine mammals, 24 species of rays and sharks, six species of reptiles, three species of turtles, and 92 species of birds, among others. Flagship species include the whale shark, the Brown Pelican, the Blue-footed Booby, and the Red-footed Booby.
