What is a Magical Neighborhood and why does Bellavista have this designation?

The Magical Neighborhoods program of Mexico is a Federal Government initiative focused on destinations full of charm, tradition, and mysticism, in capital cities or interior locations throughout the country.

Let’s remember that the successful Pueblos Mágicos (Magic Towns) program, which began in 2001, is currently one of the country’s most important tourist attractions. Thanks to the cultural, natural, historical, architectural, and gastronomic richness of the 132 destinations with this designation, 9 of which are in Nayarit, they are preferred by tourists eager for new experiences.

However, based on its operating rules and national strategy, the program does not allow for declarations in capital cities or major urban areas, even though many of these places also have spaces full of charm, tradition, mysticism, and many other characteristics that give them identity, roots, and belonging. Hence, there is a need for similar designations that can encompass these criteria.

And that’s where Bellavista, as a locality belonging to the capital municipality of Nayarit, obtains this designation, combined with various elements that make it unique and unrepeatable: history, culture, gastronomy, products and services, as well as the interaction of the local population with visitors.

The Barrios Mágicos, in partnership with the Pueblos Mágicos, promote, strengthen, and encourage road trips, especially towards open spaces, in closer contact with nature and the host communities, in line with the new trends in tourism.
